The TRTC Salute to Service Dinner is our annual signature fundraising event. Each year, we bring together residents, community leaders, volunteers, and supporters to recognize individuals whose dedication, leadership, and service have made a meaningful impact on the Trumbull community.
As the Committee’s primary fundraising event, the Salute to Service helps provide the resources needed to support the TRTC’s mission throughout the year. Proceeds fund voter outreach and engagement, candidate recruitment and training, community events, communications, and the day-to-day organizational efforts that strengthen our local party and encourage civic participation. Every ticket purchased, sponsorship secured, and donation received helps ensure the TRTC remains a strong, active voice for responsible government and the future of Trumbull.

Chief Greg Sanfanandre leads the Long Hill Fire Department and has been at the forefront of the department’s emergency response and public-service mission. Sanfanandre as Fire Chief, has publicly represented the department following major emergencies, including the difficult 2025 Hitching Post Lane structure fire.

Chief Jason Mumbach leads the Nichols Fire Department, where he has served as a volunteer firefighter since 2004. Mumbach has written about the meaning of service and the responsibility that comes with being part of the volunteer fire service, a commitment reflected by the men and women serving alongside him.

Chief Richard Gregory leads the Trumbull Center Fire Department. As its chief, Gregory has overseen responses to significant emergencies throughout Trumbull, including a 2025 Church Hill Road fire in which firefighters rescued a trapped resident by ladder.

Loretta Chory served for approximately 12 years on the Trumbull Board of Education, including four years as its chairman. She also served as vice chairman and chaired both the Finance and Policy committees. During her tenure as chairman, the Board of Education earned Connecticut Association of Boards of Education leadership recognition, and all nine Trumbull schools earned School of Distinction recognition during four years.
Her community involvement has extended well beyond elected office. Chory has been involved with Trumbull Community Women since the 1980s, serving in numerous leadership positions including three terms as president. She has also served on the Sacred Heart University Alumni Board of Directors, participated in the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities’ education policy work, and held leadership responsibilities with the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education. Professionally, she worked in finance and holds a BBA in Accounting from Siena College and an MBA in Finance from Sacred Heart University.
Chory has given many years of service to the Republican organization, including serving as TRTC treasurer. The Chairman’s Award recognizes sustained commitment, not simply to a political organization, but to education, civic involvement, and the Trumbull community.

The Leadership Award will be presented to George, Suzan, Katherine, and Jane Sarris, recognizing a family whose commitment and involvement exemplify the importance of citizens who are willing to step forward, participate, and contribute to their community.
The Sarris family’s recognition reflects something at the heart of the Salute to Service: strong communities depend upon people and families who choose to become involved. Public service takes many forms, and leadership is not measured solely by holding an elected title. It is also demonstrated through participation, reliability, generosity, and a willingness to devote time and energy to causes larger than oneself.
By recognizing George, Suzan, Katherine, and Jane together, the TRTC is celebrating a family’s shared commitment to leadership and service and the important role that engaged families play in sustaining community and civic organizations.
