  • My dedicated commitment to Trumbull had been long and varied. My husband, Dick and I moved to Trumbull 50 years ago, raised two children who successfully journeyed through the Trumbull public schools, and together over the years, have been involved in many town activities, boards, and committees.

  • Trumbull educator for 42 years, Principal of Hillcrest Middle school for over 20 years

  • Served on the Finance and Education boards

  • Trustee for the town’s library system

  • Co-chaired the Trumbull Arts festival

  • Founding member of the First Selectman’s Golf Committee

  • Upon retirement - adjunct professor in UCONN’s NEAG school of education for graduate students, treasurer for the Greater Bridgeport Retired Teachers Association, Friend of the Library, Friend of the Elite (where my family and I helped fund the towns’ Next Chapter Bookstore).
     

Although my children and grandchildren no longer live in the state, I will always be “rooted in” and “supportive of” improving the Trumbull community.

  • A lifelong resident of Trumbull, Matt received a bachelor’s degree in English from Amherst College and a master’s degree in American Studies from Fairfield University.  He has been employed at Fairfield Prep since 1998, teaching English and Social Studies.  In addition to his work in the classroom, Matt has coached both hockey and baseball at Prep.  His hockey teams won 11 state championships during his 24 year tenure behind the bench.

  • In addition to his work at Fairfield Prep, Matt volunteers as the founding coach of the Wonderland Wizards girls hockey program, and serves on the School Governance Council for the Discovery School in Bridgeport. 

  • He, his wife Ann, and their 3 daughters live on Booth Hill Road.

  • Mr. Sarris has served on the Board of Directors of the New England Chapter of Screen Actors Guild and worked with the Bowery Mission in New York City.

  • By profession, he has been an on and off-camera spokesman in commercials, industrial films and at trade shows for companies such as AT&T, American Express, BMW, Honda and Puffs Tissues. He has developed a unique one-man show and audio series entitled, The World’s Greatest Stories, and his book, Heaven’s Doors, was awarded a Silver Medal in the Illumination Book Awards

  • I have held offices on the Tashua PTA, Trumbull PTSA council, and IMPACTrumbull Board.

  • I served on the Trumbull Day Commission in 2008.

  • I am currently serving on Town Council and I am on the Rules and Research Committee.

  • Many years ago, when my daughter was in Kindergarten, I, with several other parents in the community, spearheaded the campaign for Full Day Kindergarten in our town.

  • I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Bachelor of Science in Education, and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Wagner College, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University.

  • I taught at the Foundation School in Orange CT for 17 years.  I worked in Bridgeport for 4 years, first as a teacher, and later as a Supervisor, then Interim Director of Specialized Instruction.

  • For the past 5 years I have served Norwalk Public Schools as the Administrator of Specialized Learning and Student Services, overseeing 4 high schools and 3 Transition programs.

  • I am an active member of Trumbull Rotary, and enjoy spending time with my family, and our dog, Orville.

I'm motivated to volunteer to address urgent concerns. Our understaffed police force lacks pension benefits, compromising both safety and officer morale. Our schools' crumbling infrastructure hinders quality education, and the focus on apartments over businesses is impeding our economic growth.  The persistent rise in property taxes adds to the complexity, underscoring the need to strike a delicate

balance between the town's needs and its budget constraints. Leveraging my economics degree and professional background in wealth management, I am confident in my ability to offer effective solutions to create a more secure, prosperous, and vibrant future for our town and its residents.
