To the Editor:

It's official, there is a First Selectman race commencing in Trumbull.

As most residents now know, Timothy Herbst announced his candidacy Monday April 6. There have been remarks that Mr. Herbst is too young for the job. Hearing these remarks one can't help but reflect on a line from the movie classic, "It's a Wonderful Live" when George Bailey's father says, "George, you were born older."

Having had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Tim over the last year, I can sincerely say that Tim Herbst appears to have been, "born older." Tim has served the Town of Trumbull virtually since graduating high school. He has not only served on various committees, but has chaired the Planning and Zoning Commission with the maturity and wisdom of someone well beyond his years.

In this important race for First Selectman of our town, age is simply not an issue.
